RIZAL COCKERS (RGBA) CONVENTION AT
RIVERBANKS CENTER TODAY

Members of the strong Rizal Gamefowl Breeders Association converge at the Riverbend Hotel in Riverbanks Center, Marikina City today, Saturday February 21, for their annual general assembly as the Joey Sy-led group celebrates another banner year being the fastest growing rooster-raisers association in the country.

The 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. program includes a gamefowl management “From Shell To Pit seminar featuring Purina’s John Paul Tolentino to talk about chicks nutrition and respected cockfighting guru Dr. Teddy Tanchangco of the TJT Cocking Academy lecture on “cockerel to pit care” –courtesy of Thunderbird Power Feeds – makers of Thunderbird Platinum and Thunderbird Baby Stag Booster.

A young member of the National Federation of Gamefowl Breeders, RGBA is proud that out of their 138 members banded by NFGB for the recently concluded 2009 Bakbakan 10-Stag National Derby, 116 actually saw action, thereby ranking RGBA 6th among the 29 NFGB Affiliated associations in terms of participation. Among their top finishers were 9-pointers R&B JVA of Robert Ty, Ferdie Bagos & Jose Valdez Andres, St. Jerome R T-3 of VM Emil Condez & Ramon Talavera and JMB Farm of Dennis Buison. Also commendable is the 8.5-point record posted by RMA CP Yap of Gen. Reynaldo Acop & Ponyet Yap.

To be honored is RGBA’s 2009 Breeder of the Year Ljay Sumulong (TGRZ Stanley SSF) with Tony Cote and Col. Sonny del Rosario. Also to receive his award is Stag Fighter of the Year, Dr. Nelson Tee (Sabong Sports Bosne) fighting stags of Joey Sy, Doc JBT, Doc Ronnie Magbalon of Masbate and Dupher Villalon.

Highlight of the event is the welcoming of 62 new members led by Andy Abundo – General Manager of Cainta Coliseum, Eric dela Rosa –operator of Pasig Square Garden, Arman Santos, Ferdie Ducepec (Lucky Strike), Michael Anthony Sollestre – reigning UGBA champion and Thunderbird star Dr. Boy “Chikababe” Tuazon. They will be inducted by Rizal Gov. Junjun Ynares.

“220 and counting, we hope to be 260 before wingbanding begins next month”, Sy stated.
