2011 BGT CUP 6-STAG DERBY SERIES

Ang 2011 BGT CUP 6-stag derby series ay gaganapin mula Setyembre 17 hanggang Nobyembre 26 sa pitong sabungan sa Leyte at Samar handog ni Bernie G. Tacoy at ng BGT Promotions sa pagtataguyod ng Thunderbird Power Feeds at pakikipagtulungan ni Lando Luzong.

Nagsimula noong isang taon kung saan mahigit sa 200 breeder ang lumahok, amg 2001 BGT CUP naman ay inaasahan na magiging mas malaki at mas magaling lalo na sa nakatayang P1,000,000 para sa entry fee na P6,600. Ang minimum bet ay P3,300, samantalang ang maximum even bet ay P11,000.

Karagdagan premyo ay ang pagrarapol ng 10 BGT Game Farm pullets sa bawat araw ng derby. Ang Breeder of the Year ay tatanggap ng P30,000 cash bonus; P10,000-halaga ng Thunderbird products; BGT Ormoc gold Trio at kakasamang bibiyahe para sa darating 2013 Thunderbird Challenge.

Magkakahiwalay na 2-stag elims ang gaganapin na may Day Champion prize na P25,000 plus trophies from Thunderbird ay gaganapin sa Sept. 17 – Burauen Sports and Amusement Center - Burauen, Leyte; Sept. 24 - Pawikan Gallera - Cabucgayan, Biliran; Oct. 22-Napuro Cockpit - Sta. Margarita, Samar; Oct. 28-Maasin Cockpit Arena – Maasin, Leyte; November 4-Valencia Sports Center - Valencia, Ormoc City; Nov. 12-Catarman Capitol Cockpit - Catarman, Northern Samar; and on Nov. 19 -Tunga Gallera - Tunga, Leyte.

Mayroon din Bonus Event na gagawin sa Oktubre 1 sa Valencia Sports Complex, Ormoc City, kung saan walang entry fee na kailangan (no entry fee) at may garantisabong premyo na P120,000 and isang bagong motorsiklo na ipaparapol. Kinabusan, Oktubre 2 ay isang medical/dental/optical mission na gagawin sa  BGT Game Farm in Bgy. Valencia., bago ang grand finals sa Nob. 26.

OPENS TODAY IN ORMOC

Six months of waiting ends today as the 2010 BGT CUP Stag Derby Series begins at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon at the Valencia Sports Arena in Bgy. Valencia, Ormoc City with the first of four 3-stag and one 4-stag events lined up between up and coming gamefowl breeders of neighbor provinces Leyte and Samar.

Set to compete today are 50 raring gamefowl raisers excited to test their new breeds of roosters.

Hosted by Bernie G. Tacoy and assited by Rolando Luzong, BGT CUP, which enjoys the full support of Thunderbird Power Feeds means Backyard-breeders Gamefowl Testing & Competitiveness Uprgrade Program aimed to train and encourage young or new gamefowl breeders in the field of stag fighting.

Stags that can be fielded are only those that bear the BGT CUP wingbands which were tagged to qualified cockerels during the month-long screening held last March.

To follow tonight’s scuffle are three succeeding 3-stag derbies on September 22 at the Gallera Burauen,   Burauen, Leyte; on October at the Catarman Cockpit, Catarman, Northern Samar and in October 23 at the Felix Babalcon Square Garden, Paranas, Western Samar.

 

All participants will receive a gift pack from Thunderbird upon payment of entry fee. All champions will receive a trophy, a pullet from BGT Ormoc Gold Game Farm and a surprise gift pack from Thunderbird. 15 pullets from BGT Ormoc Gold GameFarm will be raffled every derby, for all entries entries who will follow the his scheduled fight sequence.

The BGT CUP Breeder of the Year will be decided with the ultimate face-off, a 4-stag derby at the Gallera Burauen, Buraen, Leyte on Oct. 30 with a guaranteed cash prize of P200,000  for an entry fee of P4,500 and minimum bet of P4,400

All participants will receive a pullet from BGT Ormoc Gold Farm. 15 pullets from BGT Ormoc Gold GameFarm will be raffled to all who will follow the fight sequence. All champions will receive a trophy and a special gift pack from Thunderbird.

Entry/ies with highest overall score (3-stag & 4-stag) using the same entry name shall be declared BGT CUP BREEDER OF THE YEAR. Prizes for BGT CUP BREEDER OF THE YEAR are P30,000 cash from Bernie Tacoy; BGT Ormoc Gold trio; P50,000 worth of Thunderbird products and exposure in Thunderbird Gamefowl Journal and Tukaan and leading gamefowl magazines. If there will be two or more BGT CUP BREEDERS OF THE YEAR, cash prize & Thunderbird products will be divided equally, while, the BGT CUP Ormoc Gold trio winner will be based on the fastest win in the last fight of the 4-stag, but each BGT CUP BREEDERS OF THE YEAR will get his own trophy.

 

Weight limits are 1.600 – 2.200 kgs. with the submission of weights and legband numbers set the day before the fight from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

SABONG BROTHERHOOD

There are fraternities, clubs, Rotaries, Lions, Masons, Jaycees, Knights of Columbus and so on and so forth. These are formally organized groups in which members are bound together either by their belief, their objectives or their mission or simply because of mutual understanding and cooperation.
In sabong, there are no initiations; no membership; no fees; no restrictions; no written code except the fact that a sabungero should be a gentleman that honours his commitments and obligations. He should maintain fairness and cheating as well as not paying a bet is a mortal sin.

However, despite the informality and loose set-up, sabungeros is strongly bound by their passion…cockfighting.
Cockers would readily support a candidate who “belongs” or who is an insider, without reservation. Sabungeros unconsciously make themselves members of a community and would usually vote as one for one of their own. Maybe, this was the reason why many sectors or individuals immediately growled in protest when we filed our application for the Alyansa Sabungero party list. They are afraid because they know that a party list of and for the sabungero would easiy gather enough votes to be entitled to three congressional seats.
The solid sabungero vote is the reason why a big majority of elected local leaders are cockers or gamefowl breeders, like Mayor Bobby Clemente of Paoay and Mayor Nalupta of Batac in Ilocos Norte; Mayor Jesry Palmares of Passi City; Mayor Cito Albereto of Virac, Catanduanes; Gov. Rio Salceda of Albay; Cong. Tony Kho of Masbate; Gov. Manny Piñol of North Cotabato; Gov. Chungkee Uy of Compostella Valley; Cong. Claude Bautista of Davao; Vice Gov. Odie Fausto of Cagayan; Cong. Baham Mitra of Palawan (running for Governor); former Cong. Rudy Albano of Isabela; Sec. Ronnie Puno of DILG et al.
In fact, some non-cocker politicians entered the Sport to be able to woo in the cockers’ vote.
In the coming local and national elections, hundreds of candidates for local position and several national candidates are already assured of the patronage of sabungeros who numbers in the millions. With due advantage are senatorial candidates Ramon Mitra – son of the late House Speaker Monching Mitra who is regarded as one of the greatest Filipino cockers that ever lived. The name Mitra is simply synonymous to sabong. When a sabungero hear the name Mitra, instantly what comes to mind are the phenomenal Mitra 56 or the Mitra Blues or the parawakans, gamefowl strains who despite their lack in beauty are regarded as among the Royal Bloods of Philippine cockfighting.
Ramon Mitra III or simply Monmon, including his brother Baham were immersed in their father’s love for the fightingcock, from childhood. The old Mitra, never denied or hid his passion for sabong just to advance his political career. Instead, he openly displayed his love for cockfighting even during the time that he was running for the presidency. His pride for sabong is very obvious in campaign slogans such as Mitra, manok ng masa or Mitra ang Matibay.


“ A cock’s code of conduct”
Cock’s are well-disciplined lot, observing good and right conduct in the following manner :
Barring accidents, they do not peck at each other’s eyes even if they keep on fighting the whole day. This is sportsmanship on the part of the cocks. What about men?
A cock will never hit while the opponent is in the process of moving his bowels. Try to verify this fact
A cock will not relieve itself while being held in hand but the moment he is set down the ground he will do so at once. Good etiquette. After one or two hours of traveling, put him down in the ground and in a minute he will move his bowels and flap his wings for the needed relief and rest.
At the sight of the morsel of food or any kind of insect, he will call for the opposite sex to share it with her. Noble breed and gallantry. Men do this, too.
Birds communicate to each other any impending trouble and danger by a loud cackle and this signal is relayed to all of their kind in far surrounding places, in a natural spirit of mutual cooperation.
All birds sleep early at sundown but get easily awaken by the slightest noise, movement or sight. They comply to a strict discipline; so don’t disturb your ace fighter at night when preparing for an important fight.

Backyard-Breeders Gamefowl Testing – Competitiveness Upgrade Program

Layunin – Upang mabigyan ng kasanayan at praktis na labanan ang mga backyad-breeders ng mga probinsiya ng Samar at Leyte, bago sila sumubok sa mga matitinding derby tulad ng Bakbakan, Heritage Cup o Rambulan.

Pamamaraan :
Ang programang ito ay para sa mga backyard gamefowl breeders ng Leyte & Samar, partikular ang mga baguhan na hindi pa nakasubok lumaban sa derby. Sila ay hindi dapat ka-miyembro ng anuman samahan na affiliated sa National Federation of Gamefowl Breeders (NFGB) o sa United Gamecock Breeders Association (UGBA)

Sa pamamagitan ng mga seminars, flyers o DVD, ang mga backyard breeders ay tuturuan tungkol sa mga basics ng stag derby fighting na kapapalooban ng mga kaalaman tungkol sa : stag selection, preconditioning, conditioning, pointing at mga proseso kung paano ginagawa at lumalaban sa isang stag derby.

Magkakarron ng pagwi-wignband ng mga batang manok (cockerels) sa Leyte & Samar sa ikalawa hanggang huling linggo ng Marso (2nd to 4th week of March).

Upang makasali sa programa at ma-wingband ang inyong mga manok dapat na umattend kayo ng Derby Orientation & Opposition Readiness Seminar (DOORS) na gaganapin sa Pebrero. 20 (Ormoc City) ; Pebrero 21 (Tacloban) at Peb. 27 (Catbalogan).

Upang makasali sa DOORS seminar, magdala lamang ng tatlong (3) empty blister packs ng Vetracin Gold Capsule.

Mula 20 hanggang 50 cockerels (batang manok) lamang ay iba-band para sa bawat isang kasali sa program. Upang matanggap o makapasa at mawingband, ang manok ay dapat na may apat (4) na primary wing feathers (left & right) sa magkabilang pakpak.

Lahat ng BGT CUP-banded stags ay maaring ilaban at siya lamang tatanggapin sa tatlong (3) stag derbies na gaganapin sa 3rd and 4th week of August.

Ang tatlong (3) BGT-CUP derbies ay gaganapin sa : a) 3-Stag Derby sa Leyte sa 3rd week ng Agosto; b) 3-Stag Derby sa Samar sa 3rd week din ng Agosto; at c) 4-Stag Derby sa 4th week ng Agosto na maaring gawin sa Leyto o Samar depende sa kung saan mas marami ang sumali sa unang derby.

Ang 3-Stag Derby ay may entry fee na P2,200 plus 3 empty blister packs ng Vetracin Gold Caps. Lahat ng participants ay makakatanggap ng free gift packs mula sa Thunderbird. Ang mga manananalo ay maaring makapag-uwi ng hanggang P100,000 cash prize plus trophy at jacket para sa champion. Ang minimum bet ay P2,200.

Ang 4-Stag Derby ay may entry fee na P3,300 plus 3 empty blister packs ng Vetracin Gold Caps. Lahat ng participant ay tatangap ng free gift packs mula sa Thunderbird. Ang premyo ay maaring umabot hanggang P150,000 cash prize plus trophy at jacket para sa champion. Ang minimum bet ay P2,200.

Lahat ng participants na sasali sa isang 3-stag at sasali din sa4-stag ay makakatanggap ng free quality young brood pullet from BGT Game Farm.
