Sonny Lagon, who at age 29 in the late 90s surprised the Philippine cocking scene with unprecedented derby victories, again proved his sabong prowess after capturing the Laguna Gamefowl Breeders Association 7-Stag Derby with an unequalled score of 6.5 points, thereby capturing both the LAGBA 2010 Stagfighter of the Year and the LAGBA 201 Breeder of the Year.
Lagon, who made famous his Blue Blade Sweaters has added in his fleet of fighters a number of new highy-sought crosses including the Blue Blade Swites (Sweater Whites).
One of Thunderbird Winning Team’s star, Lagon is a winner of countless derbies, among them the UCAP P8M 10-Cock Derby and the P550K-entry fee Big Event 10-Cock Derby

BAKBAKAN ’09 AGAIN AT
MAKATI COLISEUM TODAY
With last year’s 2,207-entry field already broken, the supposedly last national eliminations for the 2009 Bakbakan 10-Stag National Derby takes center stage at the Makati Coliseum today with 100 entries vying to get into the winners circle and advance to the semis. An extra elimination derby had to be done on Nov. 18 at Makati Coliseum to accommodate 70 more entries who wanted to catch up.
Bakbakan 2009 is hosted by the National Federation of Gamefowl Breeders and co-presented by Thunderbird Ganador Max. A total of 150 exciting fights are lined-up which will start at 10:00 ten in the morning.
After this, the action shifts to Araneta Coliseum for the first two separate eliminations on Nov. 17 & 19.
The third national semis gets going at the Pasay Cockpit on Nov. 20, after which the hostilities enter the home stretch with seven-tiered finals, leading up to the grand finals on December 3 at the Big Dome wherein all the undefeated entries will lock horns for the highest honor a gamefowl breeder could have – a Bakbakan trophy.
Meanwhile, Samar-Leyte’s popular cocker and Thunderbird Winning Team member Bernie Tacoy, with his Ormoc Gold fighters, was added to the list of undefeated entries after scoring 3 wins out of 3 matches in the last Bakbakan elims in Cebu. His first two entries both posted 2 wins and 1 loss each.

100 FIGHTS SJC COCKFEST
The "Super Angels 4-Cock Derby" woth more than 100 quality fights on tap, kicks off today at San Jaun Coliseum.
No less than P500,000 in guaranteed prize awaits the champion, according to host Minda Arroyo of the SJC Group.
Leading the competitors are Mayor Dennis Pineda, Popoy Taruc of Nueva Ecija, Raymond Velayo, Allen dela Cruz, Mayor Roy Panganiban, LB Candelaria, Henry Cappuchino, Butchoy Olano, Eric dela Rosa, Mayor Buddy Dunca, Ador Pleyto of Bulacan and Danny Soriano among others.
Last Monday, two participants topped the "2nd SJC Circuit 6-Cock Derby : Tony tan (Swing fatman All-Stars W) and Oca Domingo (MCCSA Santiago) who posted five wins and one loss each.
Meanhile, the "Allen David 5-Cock Derby" follows next on Saturday, March 14. The "Klub Don Juan Anniversary 6-Cock Derby" is set March 16, 18 & 21.

WORLD SLASHER FINALS ON
With only 10 undefeated entries (4 pts. apiece); 6 with 3.5 points each and 31 3-pointers, a tight race to the finish is expected as the finals of the 207-entry 2009 World Slasher Cup 8-Cock Invitational Derby unfolds today at the Araneta Coliseum starting at 11:00 a.m. with more than 100-all important fights lined up.
