THUNDERBIRD WINS PACQUIAO DERBY
Jorge “Nene” Araneta’s Thunderbird entry in the ultimate fight of the derby at the Araneta Coliseum last Tuesday to equal the top score of 4.5 points posted earlier by Dori Du’s Sunshine.
For their four-win-one-draw scores, Sunshine and Thunderbird shared the championship of the first-ever “Pacman Prestige Cup” hosted by boxing’s pound-for-pound king Manny Pacqquiao.

The second leg of the "2009 SJC International 8-Cock Derby" will be held on June 1, 3, 6 & 8 at the San Juan Coliseum with soem 140 entries expected.
Cockfight champions have already signed up for the super cockfest that offers P6 million to the winners.
A specially-crafted trophy will be awarded to the champion.
The first leg of the 2009 international derby last January lured a rec0rd-shattering 191 entries with Amboy Manlapaz of Bulacan emerging as solo champion.
Runner-up finishers were Jorge Torres of California and Mayor Salvador Perez with Otto Balboa of Pangasinan.
Others with good scores are Nelson Uy, Jun Topacio, Mayor Cito Alberto, Mayor Nene Aguilar, Mauro Prieto, Engr. Allan Mirasol, LB Candelaria, Jojo Pilongo, Lito Cay, Oca Domingo and Dori Du of Davao among others.

With an entry fee of P110,000 and a minimum bet requirement of P55,000, the rare cocking event is expected to be a true test of speed, power and fighting style for the entered fightingcocks, but also a real test of nerves for the participants.
