An exciting face-off of world-caliber cockfighters is expected in next week’s staging of the 2009 World Slasher Cup-2, as the powerhouse foreign contingent unleashes their finest winged-warriors against the “island-borns” of the Philippine’s most prolific pit heroes.
Some of the fight to watch are the Boy Marzo vs. Larry Whitehead/Joe Wolcott – they shared the 2005 WSC crown and this is the time to prove who is the better champ ; Dicky Lim vs. Ray Alexander of Alabama – both veterans of Philippine cockfighting - the two have engaged each other since the glory days of the former Teresa Square Garden; German Thomas Mischkus (Alexis Germany) also vows to get back on Gov. Ito Ynares’ Binangonan which was responsible for his first loss the last time after five consecutive wins and dashed his hopes of winning his first WSC.
Also looming on the horizon is the “revenge” of Wilbert LeBlanc & Richard Harris, whose Yellow Rose entry had to settle for runner-up honors in last January’s 2009 WSC-I after the entry AS-PA-DC of Allan Siaco/Dong Chung/Patrick Antonio demolished them in their final match which would have given them an amazing solo victory in the biggest Slasher ever with 207-entries.
The three defending champions are also set to collide against a brick wall of opposition aiming to spoil their bids for back-to-back victories. The Thunderbird-powered MJRG entry of Rolly Gabon, Martin Barla, Joe Carcillar & Robert Te is eyed by Americans Mike Formosa and Roger Roberts; Spoiled Sa Amo of Rodel Costales & Benson Chua is already on the sight of Brad Padgette from Oregon and Cucamonga of Jorge Torres and Claude Bautista is targeted by Kali Casco of Hawaii.
More than 150 entries are expected to see action when the 2009 World Slasher Cup 2, takes center stage at the Araneta Coliseum on May 12, 14 and 16 hosted by the Pintakasi of Champions with Thunderbird Bexan – XP and Sagupaan Complexor 3000 as sponsors.
